Winning by fouls from a snooker

I wonder what the record amount of penalty points from a snooker is ?
I recently played a game and was in a very tricky snooker, gave away 38 points in fouls, what seemed unfair was the other player had a shot on at least five times even ball in hand with an easy pot on but still replaced the white ! Maybe I need to improve getting out of snookers ?

You can use the trial and error method to escape from snookers. Escaping from the trickiest situation should be done in 2 or 3, maybe 4 attempts.
