Learn from the best

Post by t_matze »

For unexperienced players (and maybe also for the more advanced ones), it could be interesting to see what the opponent aims for and how he plans his next shot (aiming line, shot power, position of the cue on the cue-ball etc.). It would boost the learning-experience to see the settings and the result of the shot.

I can understand if experienced players wouldn't want their opponent to see their actions in a tournament or a competitive game, but I have been in games that had a touch of tutorial sessions. To be able to switch this "look over my shoulder" on could be helpful.

What do you think?

Best regards

Hello t_matze,

Thanks for bringing this up! This idea was discussed in the development team in the very early days of the project but it has been forgotten. We are putting it now on the to do list and will take it as time and priority permits. One thing we already know is that sharing this information will be OFF by default but players will be able to turn it ON in game settings. Maybe a similar option will also be added on the viewer side so that players who are not interested in the shot details of the opponent can switch it off.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion! It will indeed be very useful for most of us!

Cheers,
SC

Hello t_matze and everyone else,

This feature has been implemented and released! :) We call it Live Aiming.

By default, the Live Aiming is off for all players, indicated by the gray cross-hair icon on the right side of the scoreboard:
for the player: OFF by default

The player can switch it on by clicking on that icon, which changes to a blue (active) cross-hair:

At the same time, the live aiming lines, power and spin settings appear on the viewers' screen the same way as the player on the shots sees them. A green cross-hair icon also appears on the viewers' screen:
for the viewer: ON by default

If the green icon is clicked, it turns into gray and the live aiming lines disappear from the screen of the viewer who has switched them off. Switching the lines off may be better for viewers who want to enjoy a TV-like snooker game.

Additionally, there is a global Live Aiming Icon setting on the OTHER tab in the game settings window. If it is set to Hide, not even the gray icons will appear on the screen.

This feature can be used to demonstrate basic aiming methods to new players but it can also be invaluable for learning advanced techniques such as aiming with side spin from more experienced players. Don't be shy, ask the opponent to turn on Live Aiming for you to see! Similarly, be brave enough to turn the lines on, maybe an experienced opponent or viewer can spot a basic mistake you are making.
