Hi guys,
I struggle with getting pots when playing the white when it is tight on the cushion. Any chance of a tutorial explaining how the shot can be played with accuracy?
Regards
Phil

Re: Playing shots with white tight to the cushion
Hi Phil,
I'm not good enough to give suggestions on that shot, all I can say is that if you find yourself in that position during a break, it usually means the previous shot or shots were poor. If the previous shot was taken by the opponent and you are forced to shoot from the cushion, the opponent has made a decent safety shot!

I agree with your comment but there must be a tip or two somewhere in this game.

Sure, but only hot players can come with them. I sense the word "side" coming...

Re: Playing shots with white tight to the cushion
Hi Phil,
I think the theme here might be not to get yourself in that position to start with. On a real table we know it's not where you want to be and here is similar. May I suggest you watch my video which you must have multiple copies of by now for how to get out of a bad pos shot
There is no instruction set it is a mindset and frequently works for me if only I could find a way to share it hehe.
Suggestions maybe raise the cue a bit but not too much or you'll end up hitting a swerve instead of being accurate. But the word here seems to be good luck pal get yourself out of the mire you created

Re: Playing shots with white tight to the cushion
Adding a bit of running side on it (without adjusting the aim) has always helped me. Although i don't have an appropriate explanation for it and they don't always pot but just sharing my trial and error experience. Try it on the practice table and see if it helps.
Re: Playing shots with white tight to the cushion
Just to be clear here Phil, I'm assuming you mean at Pro level you find it difficult? I believe that is the intention. At club level I have found it no less difficult to play the cue ball from any position. Maybe not what the developers want to hear but I don't see any real increase in difficulty at club level due to proximity to the cushion. I like the previous response I would be inclined to put a bit of top and adjust a whisker off perfect centre to allow for that pos tight on the cush. My rating is not great, but I have years of experience online and for real so give it a try and see how that goes. Let us know what works for you. Also saw a suggestion try it on practice table. See if you can lay a couple up on the cush in practice then see what works.

Re: Playing shots with white tight to the cushion
Thanks everyone, I am not sure if I will ever get it but I will keep trying. Love the obvious comments like keep away from the cushion but we all make mistakes lol. Keep up the good work guys I love the game, maybe if I had more spare time it would help. Being retired is hard work

Re: Playing shots with white tight to the cushion
The thing I like there Phil is how hard you like to make it sound being retired you're a lucky duck!!
No more setting the alarm for work in fact no reason to get out of bed really. If the hardest thing you have to do all day is pot a ball off the cush then I can't say I'm going to be mad keen to guide you on that one
Best advice like you have already stated is don't put the cue ball there in the first place. Practice hitting shots that leave the cue ball in the middle of the table rather than on the cush. You are a good player and I'm sure this is just an isolated case of a brain fade where you left it a little "awkward".
I will acknowledge the difference between pro and club on this game is chalk and cheese but practice or like me self-belief (jammy git already awarded long time ago) will get you there.
Thank you for the question whilst interesting the symptoms and the cause of you being on the cush in the first place were part of the assessment.
