You've spotted a bug in the People window!

In version 0.1.185 the window popping up over the table cannot display the blue dot. If you watched the same information in the lobby, you would see the blue dot. The bug will be fixed in the next release.

If the logs don't have it, the reason can be as simple as a human error, clicking one pixel away from the button of even the mouse not detecting the button press....

That's strange indeed! Do you experience the same issue after restarting your PC?
You can try muting/unmuting all sounds (CTRL-M) or enabling/disabling different parts in the sound settings.

The new release has quite a few changes but none of them were supposed to do anything with sound.

In August 2021, a humble sound effect was added to the game and it is played each time you receive a private message (a.k.a. @whisper message), someone invites you or someone joins the table you are playing at. The sound effect is switched on by default but you can toggle it by pressing CTRL-N.
